Discussion of the book titled “Byzantium Viewed by the Arabs”, which deals with the Arab-Islamic view of the Roman state (Byzantium), tracing its image as it evolved over centuries of warfare, communication and exchanges with Muslims. The research shows the status of Byzantium for Arab-Islamic institutions, which valued the Roman civilization despite the wars. The book also includes an extrapolation of the Arab-Islamic vision of the Byzantine Empire, extending from the first reference to the Roman state in the Holy Qur'an until the fall of Constantinople in 1453 AD. This was done on the basis of a large body of material drawn from the eyes of esteemed Arab heritage books. It can be concluded from the research that the image of Byzantium reveals itself as complex, heterogeneous and not without contradiction.
